Hyundai Sonata 2011 specification, medium sedan has long been the bread and butter products for car manufacturers, not to mention the best way to get brand loyalty with customers, and get recognition from critics. This is not surprising, then, to look at Hyundai went all out with the recent redesign of the Sonata’s. As one automotive success stories of some tough economic times, the Hyundai on the verge of shedding value-oriented, second-tier status and became one of the world’s leading automotive brands. With a little luck, the new Sonata will do for what Hyundai Accord and Camry have been made to Honda and Toyota.
Luckily for American cash shortage, the new Sonata is still very competitive when it comes to price. With an MSRP ranging from $ 19k to $ 25k, this is a lot of car for the money, either in the basic GLS or Limited trim wear. Mid-level SE trim is probably the most attractive package, with standard power seats and sporty 18 “rims and low profile tires. All the models come with the usual security features, including traction and stability control, and front and side airbags.
In a somewhat risky move, Hyundai has decided to join the latest trend towards increased fuel efficiency through a smaller engine and will not be offered with a V6 Sonata. Instead, buyers will initially be limited to the 2.4L engine, four-cylinder direct injection, turbo model came out this year for those seeking more power. Fortunately, the standard engine was pretty overachiever, produces an impressive 198 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque, while also earning the best fuel efficiency in the classroom. Mated to either five-speed manual (only available in base GLS trim) or a smooth shifting six-speed automatic transmission (standard SE and Limited models), drivetrain combination is better than adequate for everyday driving and even give a small dose of sportiness Sonata .
Although the new Sonata looks very good on paper, which does not have to answer the most important question: how can she drive? Unfortunately we could not drive a car too long, apparently so eager to get Hyundai’s new models come out in public that the test cars are hard to come by (although we will have an extended review later this summer). However, based on limited seat time we can honestly say that, from the viewpoint of the driver, maybe this new medium car to beat. Road manners are outstanding, with the chassis surprisingly calm and communicative steering. For those who think buying a cheaper medium sedan must be satisfied that the excess body roll and numb steering, driving the Sonata will be quite surprising. Only when it really hard not to push the suspension became a little unglued, at which point all season tires begin to howl in protest, and you should remind yourself that this is not the M3.
Almost as surprising as how to drive Sonata is the way she looks. This is not simply a makeover; line-up for the next new Sonata with previous generations and you can barely see the resemblance. Exterior features a new design of what Hyundai calls Fluidic Sculpture cohesive design language, which we’ll only be interpreted as swoopy and sharp. Although perhaps a bit too derivative of other designs, with large doses of the Mercedes CLS on the side, slightly behind the Mazda 6, and nodded to the latest Ford and Toyota design with prominent chrome grille, the overall look is quite striking and makes for an interesting car.
We really can not wait to spend more quality time with the new Sonata, good enough to test the interior comfort and functionality, and to verify that the car on road performance as good as we think. To imagine that well under 23 grand you can now get a sedan, styled also appointed who has almost 200 hp and still gets 35 mpg on the highway. With the new Sonata, Hyundai has competitors in the mid-size sedan market is competitive, and maybe kind of game changer that will forever change the way we see the brand.
